Janelle lives in Mars Hill North Carolina. She learned to sew from her grandmother when she was a child. She has recently embraced it as her favorite way to make useful art pieces. She has worked in many media, but is currently embracing the practicality of sewing. Her bags are the epitome no waste upcycling. She thinks if it like making a scrap quilt because the aesthetic is slightly mismatched funky and oh so durable. Just the kids of comfort that brings joy and meaning. She delights in finding unique and useful fabrics just big enough for a bag or a few bags. Yes she will and does use a piece even if just big enough for one bag. This satisfies ber need to create with what is. To use what is available and abundant. And to create beauty with what is around her. There are many sewing operations and furniture makers in North Carolina, which creates a lot of fabric off cuts and unused fabric lots. Janelle enjoys nothing more than combining beautifully matched fabrics to create a wearable piece of art that she knows her grandma would approve of.
