Beth Elliott is an artist living and making just outside Asheville, NC. Her work is inspired by the surrounding Western North Carolina landscape and through the exploration of forms and connections of the materials- handbuilt, hand thrown and slipcast. The markings on her vessels reflect an internal lexicon describing moods, stories and new landscapes that she is working out as she builds and finishes the pieces. Her background in biochemistry and design via landscapes and interiors is present in the pieces but unlike the precision these disciplines require, her art practice is more about revealing her hand and exposing the view to the organic gestures and markings in the making of them.
