I am a local artist living in Fletcher. I started in this journey 11 years ago after waking up hearing my voice say “I just want to play with color”. Somehow, I knew this meant painting. I had never had an art class in my life and did not see myself as artistic. It has been a steep learning curve, not only about all of the elements that go into creating a painting, but also the internal struggle. It has been exciting, frustrating and everything in between. Fortunately, there are generous artists who share their expertise in workshops, YouTube videos, and podcasts. At this point, I am exploring abstract art and trying to focus on play and experimentation. It is a paradox. On one hand I want to make good painting and if that is my focus it is bound to fail!
