My name is Bonnie Currie. I have lived as an active visual artist and jewelry designer in Asheville, NC for almost 20 years now. I first moved to Asheville to finish my Bachelor Degree in Philosophy at UNCA. After graduating I decided to stay and make a home for myself in the mountains. In that time I have grown not only as a creative but also as a business woman and soul. Mixed media collage has been a passion of mine since the age of 16. First introduced to me by my mother, who is also an artist. Jewelry design came later after collage. Both satisfy my love of hunting, gathering and assembling. I can not say why I create expect that I must. Almost everyone in my family is an artist so it must be in the blood. I’ve always been proud to be connected to a vital creative legacy. In addition I would like to express how proud I am to be a part the Asheville art community and its thriving energy. It is awe inspiring to see people coming together after Helene and continuing to build and rebuild after such a massive disaster. All of you inspire me!
